Lanyonscapes is a family business owned by Simon and Janice Lanyon of Gladstone, in Queensland.
Simon has been a contractor since 1975. Since the very beginning he has been involved in contracts both in the local district and other areas where considerable travel is involved. These areas include the entire Bowen Basin Mining area as well as remote areas both off-shore and throughout Cape York, the Gulf Region, and other remote mining or industrial sites.
Simon was born and bred on the land. He grew up on the family farm and is still involved in farming ventures. Starting a contracting career at 20 years old did not leave time for formal qualifications, but the lessons and knowledge learnt by life experience are irreplaceable and go with him on to every contract.
His main work interest now is hydromulching, revegetation, and erosion control. Up until 1992 his main work was commercial and industrial landscaping, but with his love of the bush and a natural ability to ‘make things grow’ is has been a natural progression to this stage.
Simon has always worked as a hands-on operator and it gives his clients comfort to know that he is on every job ensuring that the work is completed to his standard.
Simon’s wife Janice has been involved with the company office administration since 1980. After working together for so long Janice knows the industry inside-out and is always available to offer advice when Simon is away on jobs. In 1994 Simon and Janice opened their retail centre – Gardenlovers Plants Plus; and Janice is heavily involved in this section of the business.
